It is a very busy part of the brain. The hypothalamus is responsible for your hunger, thirst, response to pain, levels of pleasure, anger, etc. The hippocampus is important in converting things in the mind. The amygdala is two almond shaped masses of neurons on any side of the thalamus. The Limbic System is a very important part of the brain.
