The Pie Summary
In the excerpt, The Pie, by Gary Soto, he tells a story of a point in his childhood when he was nine years old. He explains how he was bored and decides to steal a pie. He is nervous when he is the German Market, sweating and knowing he is going to commit a sin. He then takes the pie and when he gets out he eats it quickly and after realizes how bad of a think he has done and can’t stop thinking about going to hell. In the story Soto uses a lot of personification throughout the story. For example in paragraph one it says “the plumbing that howled beneath the house.” The quote is mentioned many times throughout the story. I think that Soto's purpose for making writing this story is that boredom can make you sin and sin is very powerful and temping. Soto really created a great story that had many outburst that had to do with Christianity.
