In the short story "The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse" by William Saroyan, Saroyan tells a story about a family that is known for being honest. Saroyan really uses descriptive words so the reader can imagine the story and be more into the story. For example, on page four, Saroyan uses the word "capricious" to show how he is changing mood. Saroyan also has a different personality for each character to make each one of them unique and interesting. For example, Saroyan inserted a character named Mourad into the story and he is known as being weird, crazy, adventures, and daring. Saroyan needed to add Mourad into the story because without him there would not be any conflict in the story. For example, on page one it says "My cousin Mourad was sitting on a beautiful white horse." In that sentence the main character thinks that Mourad has stolen it and he is mad because they were always known for being honest. Saroyan also uses good setting and mood in the story which also helps imagine the story more. On page one Saroyan explains how it's four in the morning on a summer day while the sun is rising on the horizon. Saroyan really uses many details in the story to help us feel more into the story.
